Schindler
and EnergySmart Partner
To Distribute Energy-Saving
Products For Escalators
Morristown,
NJ February 17, 1999 - Schindler Elevator Corporation,
a leading elevator and escalator manufacturer in North
America, has entered into an agreement with EnergySmart
to become a special distributor of the Power Planner III
for the vertical transportation industry. EnergySmart
is a division of Coast Energy Management of Chandler,
Arizona.
EnergySmart
is a world leader in the manufacturing, marketing and
distribution of energy-saving products. The Power Planner
III is an energy-saving microcontroller for three phase
industrial and commercial applications. The Power Planner
III helps save electricity on equipment and appliances
driven by induction motors. Most A/C induction motors
draw nearly full current regardless of their load. The
Power Planner senses the load of the motor and supplies
only the power needed, thus reducing the energy needs
and ultimately saving energy and money. The Power Planner
also helps reduce the energy waste inherent in A/C induction
motors, which, in turn, helps keep the motor cooler.
With
significant applications for the vertical transportation
industry, the unit, available in 15 Amp to 500 Amp models,
is installed by 'hardwiring' it to the escalator equipment.
"We at Schindler are very enthusiastic about our
arrangement with CEM, and are pleased to be associated
with a leader in this area", said John V. Corcoran,
vice president of Schindler Elevator Corporation's service
operations. "CEM has met our rigorous quality control
processes and we are pleased to award them preferred supplier
status."
According
to Daniel Bach, CEO of CEM Industries, Inc., "The
Power Planner III proprietary software produces a more
efficient, quiet operation of the motor. We think it is
simply the best idea in the world, and the proof is in
the product. We're happy to be partnering with the world's
leading escalator company to distribute this product to
this market."
Headquartered
in Morristown, New Jersey, Schindler designs, manufactures,
installs, modernizes and services a broad range of elevators,
escalators and moving walks for various people-moving
applications. It is the North American operation of the
Swiss-based Schindler Group, the world's largest escalator
manufacturer and second largest elevator manufacturer.
Schindler is the first elevator company in the U.S. to
achieve ISO 9001 certification. For additional information,
